《What’s In Your Bag?》

An illustrated Taiwanese recipe zine.

What’s In Your Bag? visual artist Chia-Chun Li is developed from her experience of living in the UK, reinterpreting everyday Taiwanese dishes through illustration. Using ingredients sourced from British supermarkets, the work explores how recipes shift and adapt across different cultural contexts.

Primarily image-led and accompanied by simple recipes, the publication features ten classic Taiwanese dishes and one homemade dessert. Starting from the contents of a shopping bag, each page transforms everyday ingredients into dishes that feel both familiar and slightly unfamiliar.

Through these visual translations, the work reflects on how, when living away from home, connections to food, memory, and culture are continuously rebuilt through everyday choices and constraints.

The series has been featured by the international design platform WE AND THE COLOR, and has been sold and presented in bookstores and art spaces in the UK.
